With Philadelphia artist, producer and bassist, Jamaaladeen Tacuma at the helm, AAMP presents an unforgettable evening of music celebrating three generations of Black music from Philadelphia. FIERCE! brings Tacuma and his band together with the infectious sounds of Philly soul-singer Lady Alma and new school rapper, singer, songwriter Hezekiah. Together, this incredible line-up of musicians are set create stunning sonic journey exploring true breadth of Philadelphia’s Black music legacy. This program is presented as part of the African American Museum in Philadelphia's summer-long celebration, PhilAesthetic: The African American Museum in Philadelphia Celebrates the Black Arts Movement.

And who can better to define Philadelphia’s Black Aesthetic than four of the city’s premiere cultural organizations, the African American Museum in Philadelphia, Philadanco, the Clef Club, and the New Freedom Theatre?

Funded by PNC Arts Alive, curated by AAMP and presented during the summer of 2017, PhilAesthetic will be an unprecedented collaboration that celebrates the innovative artistic energy and uncompromising social values of Philadelphia’s Black Arts Movement.

Anchored by a groundbreaking two-gallery exhibition at AAMP, in-community pop-up exhibits at our partner institutions, and a series of can’t-miss productions and family-oriented workshops, PhilAesthetic brings the undeniable energy of the Black Arts Movement to the fore once again.
