Watch Jamaaladeen Tacuma Redd Carpet Room Outsiders Festival Broadcast
Renowned jazz bassist Jamaaladeen Tacuma presents the sixth-annual Outsiders Improvised & Creative Music Festival with a special 2020 theme: The Redd Carpet Clean Sweep. Organized by Jam-All Productions and curated by Tacuma, this year's festival will take place online, continuing its mission of showcasing diverse styles of risk-taking, progressive music and groundbreaking artists April 2020.
With his true improvisational spirit, Jamaaladeen has adapted to the challenges posed by the global Covid-19 pandemic. Audiences can access Redd Carpet Room Clean Sweep Sessions broadcast directly to the comfort of their own home through internet video streaming. Jamaaladeen has invited musical artists from around the world to participate in virtual improvisational collaborations. Special to this year and in keeping with the Redd Carpet Room theme, the artists will engage in discussions about fashion, design, and how they are maintaining their creative energy during this international crisis; so audiences can tune into uplift and gain inspiration.
The first episode airs Tuesday April 22nd at 8 pm EST and Wednesday April 23rd at 1 pm EST , featuring percussionist Billy Martin from Mendinski Martin & Wood, guitarist David Fiuczynski of Screaming Headless Torsos, and Jamaaladeen's longtime collaborator saxophonist Wolfgang Puschnig of Gemini Gemini and Samul Nori/Red Sun.
The second episode airs on June 11 2020, featuring Legendary , composer, educator the most recorded drummer in the world Bernard Purdie, Grammy winning songwriter, singer and guitarist Ray Parker Jr, Grammy winner, composer, singer, songwriter, arranger, producer, and co-founding member of Kool & the Gang Ronald Khalis Bell, Genre Smashing Black Rock Coalition Band 24-7 Spyz, Award winning film maker Gregg Mann, and Spoken Word artist Wadud Ahmad, in a variety show that offers improvised virtual performances, film concept art and fashion commentary on 1960’&70’s funky street fashions , with your host Jamaaladeen Tacuma
