"I have been asked to assemble a group that can play Ornette Coleman's amazing Primetime numbers for a concert at the Jazz House featuring the legedary genius of harmolodic bass playing Jamaaladeen Tacuma. This is my dream band. It has the same instrumentation as Prime Time except that, instead of Ornette has two horns: trombone and alto sax. the set will consist of about 10 Primetime numbers, and maybe one of my own tribute tracks for Tacuma. "- Kresten Osgood.

In 1976 created the avant-garde pioneer Ornette Coleman the group to lift his progressive musical vision into jazz fusion. It was named Prime Time and was one of the rare fusion groups had a free, contrapuntal approach to improvisation, and therefore the band had much more in common with the Baroque and the European musical tradition than the American fusion in the 70s. The extraordinary band consisted mostly of two guitars, two bass players, two drummers and Ornette Coleman himself on alto sax and was a leading group in New York's move away from 70s boring 'fuzak'. Free Jazz saxophonist Ornette Coleman (b. 1930) began his career in the 1950s, when he was the author of "The Shape of Jazz to Come" in 1959 and the harmolodic method. Coleman's approach to free improvisation - and especially the dissolution of the traditional setup / instrumentation in free jazz - had a huge impact on his contemporaries. Not just the world of jazz, but also on the early progressive rock and bands like King Crimson, Henry Cow, Soft Machine and Gentle Giant. Members from PrimeTime would also later become pioneers in their own groups from which they moved further into the new jazz-rock wave; Vernon Reid, Ronald Shannon Jackson and Jamaaladeen Tacuma, the latter can now be experienced with a hand-picked group of Danish musicians in the special Winter Jazz Concert.
