BBC Radio 3 , Jazz on 3 tribute to Ornette Coleman

I am extremely humbled and honored to be asked to say a few words about Ornette, who was so important to me in his role as a human being and as a musical mentor. Ornette you are missed so much, but your message to the human race is here with us and will live on. Thank you so much Jez Nelson, Chris Elcombe and BBC radio3/jazzon3.

Today June BBC Radio 3 , Jazz on 3 tribute to Ornette Coleman with Nenah Cherry, Guardian writer John Fordham, Jamaaladeen Tacuma and others . Listen Live online 23:00 BST ( 6 pm Est) and online for next 30 days.

"It would be impossible to get even close to summing up Ornette's 60-year career in 90 minutes but I hope you'll enjoy listening to this week’s Jazz on 3 as much as producer Chris Elcombe and I enjoyed putting it together. There's much love for Ornette and his voice will be with us forever."- Jez Nelson

Hi Mr Tacuma I listened to the tribute on the radio Loved the bass playing on the piece "Times Square" super funky wonder if this has been published as a chart ? Is the intro riff the same every time it was performed, a lot of improvised parts too. I know there was some footage of Prime Time playing this back in the 80s but has now gone ! Thanks for your work bye Sen
