Wolfgang Puschnig FULSOME

Viktring Arkadenhof

 Wolfgang Puschnig
Born in 1956 in Klagenfurt, Carinthia, alto saxophonist Wolfgang Puschnig is one of the founding members of the Vienna Art Orchestra. His music conveys a cosmopolitan attitude and also bares his regional roots with strong stylistic influences from Germanic, Slavic and Romanic cultures, traditions, and languages. From the early 1980s onward, this trademark has made him an A-list player in the world of European jazz. In addition to the Vienna Art Orchestra, he has been collaborating regularly for many years with various formations, including Big Band de Carla Bley, the band Red Sun (which unites him with Samul Nori on Korean drums) and singer Linda Sharrock as well as violinist Mark Feldman.

“Is Wolfgang Puschnig Austria's biggest Jazz musician since Joe Zawinul? His new album removes any doubt.” – Profil
